For those with an interest in Japanese racing the domestic JGTC series had somewhat of a golden era in the early 90's, namely due to the ridiculous variety of machinery that shared the track. 1994 would see race bred JDM classics such as the R32 GT-R and Supra line up next to RS 911's, a Ferrari F40 and perhaps most famous of all, a Porsche 962.
Long standing Japanese outfit Team Taisan were responsible for entering both the 962 and F40. Despite being over a decade old at this time, the Porsche 962 was still capable of holding its own against more modern machinery, taking the victory at round 3 at Fuji Speedway.
This piece pays tribute to a Japanese racing icon and its distinctive Advan, red-stripe livery.
